The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a good book, but it wasnt a book that I couldnt put down. Once I was done with the entire book, it did not linger on my mind. I feel like the series will get better as it goes along so I intend to read the others but I have other books that I am compelled to read first. I liked the world Rick Riordan has created and the characters but I really didnt like how the whole story was mainly different monsters coming at them at every turn. I wish there was more "meat" to the story so to speak. And please dont hate on me for this but I actually liked the movie better! :O

All in all three stars and I will someday read the rest of the books and watch any future movies of this series. It was neat learning about the gods. And I should say that I think any one 12 and under will love this series, it reminding me of the first three HP books, which are not as dark as the rest. Maybe this series will get darker? We can only hope! LOL

White Cat (Curse Workers, #1)White Cat by Holly Black

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Really enjoyed this book. It has elements of mystery, action, suspense , witty characters, likeable characters. I think both female and male will enjoy this book.

It has a shocking surprise at the end and leaves you wanting to get the next book. This was my first experience reading Holly Black and I was very pleased. Can't wait to check out her Tithe series.

The Hollow (The Hollow, #1)The Hollow by Jessica Verday

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I struggled with giving this book 4 stars or 3 stars. I think it was more like 3.5. I felt like the book kept building up to what was really going on and then you get a little bit of who some of the mysterious characters are but then the book ends. There isnt really any explanation and SPOILER ALERT, u find out her and Caspian cant even touch! Grrr..... If this book would have ended better, it might have been a 4.0 I did enjoy Abby's hobby of perfume making but I kept thinking that this would tie into the story but it never did. I am not sure why Ben was even a character? And a wierd thing was, the author had her eat and drink like a pig! LOL There were so many things that happened for nothing it seemed. Like her best friends death seemed to have nothing to do with Katy and Nicolas and Caspian. So why even have that whole part of the plot in there? Yep, it was a 3.0 for me. I am planning on reading book two though, The Haunted. But if it ends up not bringing things together and has an unsatisfying ending, I prob. wont read the rest of the series.
